Context
Bavarian FOS and BOS schools grade differently. Oral, pop quizzes, short tests, full exams, all weighted, on a 0 to 15 point scale. Spreadsheets circulate in every class, but they are unreadable and easy to break.
The first version was a plain form on Vercel, mostly for classmates. It grew unexpectedly, so it needed to be re-thought from scratch.
Approach
Instead of a tool layout, a cinematic scroll intro frames the calculator as a brand. Display type, punchy colour fields, generous whitespace, a visual language somewhere between editorial and software.
The actual calculation lives on a dedicated route. Two cards, one for individual subjects, one for the BOS overall average with the double-weighted final scores. Validation is visible, history is stored locally, no login.
Outcome
A classroom hack turned into a small brand. The v0.2 has a recognisability that a grade calculator normally does not need, which is exactly why students remember the name. Next step is more study tools under the same roof.
